Your Rights As A Patient

At Upstate Carolina Medical Center, we consider you a partner in your healthcare. We want you to be well-informed, to participate in your treatment, and to communicate with your physician and other healthcare professionals. We treat our patients with dignity and confidentiality, and we respect the personal preferences and values of individual patients.
Upon admission, you will be asked to read and sign a document that fully explains your rights and responsibilities as a patient. Should we fail to provide you with a copy, please let your nurse know.
Your Responsibilities As A Patient

As our patient, you are responsible for providing information about your health, including past illnesses, hospital stays, and use of medicine. You are responsible for asking questions when you do not understand information or instructions. If you believe you can’t follow through with your treatment, you are responsible for telling your doctor or staff.
We encourage you to voice your opinions regarding the care you received and to have those opinions reviewed. Please call 864.487.1580 to share those thoughts with us.
