Hospital to Welcome New Year's Baby
Prepared by: Steve Wong Upstate Carolina Medical Center Marketing Phone 864-487-1515 In preparation for Cherokee County’s New Year’s baby, Upstate Carolina Medical Center is now accepting gifts from local businesses and organizations to be included in the gift basket that is traditionally presented to the first baby born at the hospital on or after Jan. 1, 2008. "Every year, the hospital compiles a very nice gift basket for the first baby born in the new year," Marketing Director Steve Wong said. "Of course, the hospital contributes a great many items, but we like to make it a community effort and encourage local businesses donate items, too. What better way to welcome the first baby than to have the entire community participate?" In past years, local businesses have donated educational savings bonds, flowers (for the mom), keepsake gifts, blankets, clothes, picture frames, and gift certificates for goods and services, such as meals. Anyone who would like to donate items should contact Wong at 487-1515. Items may be brought directly to the hospital’s main entrance any day of the week, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and left to the attention of Wong. Be sure to include the giver’s name and telephone number. |
