Financial Arrangements: Your hospital insurance is a contract between you and your insurance
company, and, while we assist you by filing your claim, you are
ultimately responsible for your account. Assignment of insurance
benefits and the payment of a deposit or deductibles and coinsurance will
be requested at the time of your admission. If you anticipate difficulty
with the financing of your hospitalization, we encourage you to consult
your Account Representative at 864.487.1633.
Managed Care: We participate in many managed care networks and plans. If you are covered under a contracted managed care network, our admitting personnel will note that at the time of registration. To find out more about whether your plan participates with Upstate Carolina Medical Center, please contact the Managed Care Department at 864.487.1581. Other Health Insurance: If you have individual or group health insurance, please be certain you bring your identification membership cards and pertinent insurance documents with you at the time you register for hospital services. You will be asked to assign your insurance benefits to the hospital and pay any deductibles, coinsurance, or co-payments at the time you register for services. Medicare & Medicaid: We also participate in and accept Medicare and Medicaid insurance. Please be certain to have your identification and Medicare or Medicaid membership cards with you at the time you register for hospital services. Financial Arrangements: If you do not have hospital insurance coverage, we'll ask that you make a deposit and establish a payment plan at the time of registration. Or, if you anticipate difficulty with your payment obligations under your insurance coverage, we may also establish a payment plan at the time of registration or you may contact your Account Representative at 864.487.1633. The Hospital Bill: Upon request, you will be provided an estimate of charges for hospital services when you are discharged. Soon after your discharge, you'll receive a more complete bill from the hospital that details the charges incurred during your stay. The portion of the charges that you may be responsible for will vary depending on the type of insurance coverage you have. Physician & Ambulance Fees: Physician fees for professional services rendered during your visit are separate from the bill provided by the hospital. Likewise, ambulance services are also billed separately from the hospital bill. Delayed Charges: Occasionally, some charges are not received in the Business Office until after you are discharged and the initial bill is sent, thus resulting in an additional bill being sent to you or your insurance company. We do, however, endeavor to keep this to a minimum.
