To be admitted to UCMC, your physician must be a member of Upstate Carolina Medical Center’s medical staff. Your physician will arrange for your admission and inform you of the exact day you will enter the hospital.
When your physician has informed you of the need for admission, you should go by the hospital’s Admitting Office to complete the preadmission forms. This should be done between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Semiprivate, private and deluxe rooms are available. What to Bring![]() You need to bring with you only a few personal items, such as toilet articles, bathrobe, slippers, nightgowns, and/or pajamas. If you have a Living Will or Healthcare Power of Attorney, please bring it with you. A copy will be made and will become part of your hospital record. Always tell the nursing staff about any medications you are taking, and be sure to bring the medications with you to the hospital. Do Not Bring ![]() Please do not bring electrical appliances such as fans, heating pads, coffee pots, electric blankets. Please do not bring any valuable objects of a personal nature, such as watches, rings and other jewelry. If you do have personal belongings with you, let the nursing staff know, and they will be secured in the hospital safe. Discharge Planning ![]() Our Case Management staff is available to help you with plans for post hospital care. Prior to or during your admission, ask your nurse or physician to contact the Case Manager if you think you will need assistance in arranging post hospital care.
